We don't have one of those sneaky trials either, you won't automatically be enrolled in anything. In fact, we won't even take your credit card number.

Shoot and Share? Awesome, here's how you can make Swift Galleries work with your business model.

As with all of these recommended workflows, these are just our opinions, feel free to tweak them or outright change them to suit your business.

Before the Planning Meeting

highly recommend, no matter how you sell your work, that you do a planning meeting (even if you can only do it over the phone). I believe planning meetings bring the biggest return on time invested than anything else you can do in your business. So...

If you're doing a planning meeting:

  • Request the room photo in your "Thanks for your interest" email and ask that they have it to you a day or two before the planning meeting.
  • Feel free to offer some sort of incentive for getting you the room photo in a timely manner (free 11x14 if you get it to me 2 days before the planning meeting)

If you're not doing a planning meeting:

  • Start doing planning meetings.
  • Ok, kind of kidding.
  • Request any room photos in your "Thanks for your interest" email and ask that they have it to you a day or two before the session.

During the Planning Meeting

If you're doing a planning meeting:

  • Show various sizes and template ideas on their walls.
  • Try to decide on specific sizes ("I think this size would look great over this couch, what do you think? Great, let's jot that down... 30x45 canvas over the couch") and specific templates ("This triptych looks good in this spot next to the piano, and it'll give us enough products to have one photo of each of the three kids"). Don't worry about putting photos in there yet, just try to get them to decide on layouts and sizes for various spaces throughout their home.

If you're not doing a planning meeting:

  • Skip to the next step.

At the Session

If you're doing a planning meeting:

  • Refer back to and build excitement for the products you discussed during the planning meeting ("Oh man, this is the one! This one is going to be perfect for that canvas you wanted over the couch!"). Now your client can visualize not only the correct size in the spot in their home, they're mentally placing one of their images into that correctly-sized imaginary product. They're selling it to themselves! (Starting to get an idea of why I highly recommend planning meetings?)
  • Remind the client that you'll be sending suggested wall galleries for them to order within whatever your turnaround time is. Best to under-promise and over-deliver (say 3 weeks and deliver in 2, rather than the other way around).

If you're not doing a planning meeting:

  • Take some pictures. =)
  • Remind the client that you'll be sending suggested wall galleries for them to order within whatever your turnaround time is. Best to under-promise and over-deliver (say 3 weeks and deliver in 2, rather than the other way around).

Between the Session and the Delivering the Digitals

  • Upload full edits of your final images (we recommend no more than 20-30 images from a typical portrait session).
  • Design 1-2 suggestions per location in the home (or 2-3 if there's only one location in the home) while your disc is burning, thumb drive is thumb-driving or photos are uploading.
  • Set a short lifespan in your album expiration settings (we recommend 5-7 days)
  • Set any discounts, if you want to offer them (I recommend 1-3 days for the earlybird discount and 3+ products for the quantity discount)
  • Share the album with your client (I'd recommend waiting to deliver the digitals until after this album expires or after the earlybird discount expires).

After the Sale

  • Place the order with your lab.
  • Do a happy dance while looking at your bank account balance.
